So you still remember your 20s, Liz? <grin>

Really though, that's a great thought. And especially apropos because here in the States we all seem to eat too much. Traveling abroad is doubly expensive because we Americans have to have more food than everyone else. It doesn't improve the quality of the dining but it certainly speaks for our culture.

I think we live in a world where we not only want to be better than average, but the best... where the 80th percentile is just <i>above average</i> and thus we want to be in that 95th or 99th percentile...in experience, in love, in wealth in education... And you're right that it probably just isn't necessary--that we should just accept that we've been satiated long before and that life already is so darn good.

I'm going to let your idea resonate for a little while and see how it plays out. Thanks for posting, and see you soon!

Hey Jared,
A friend of mine lost 60 pounds last year. He told me that part of the trick was, when you eat, to pay attention to how full you are and aim for 80%. So I began to apply that to parts of my life where I feel empty. And I realized I really had so much.

How full my life is, when I'm looking at the fullness! (And how empty when I'm looking at the abyss.)

I don't know what motivates us to continually fill up (on the bigger and better), but I suspect that it has - in your 20s - something to do with feeling there is a better place to be than here. I mean, regardless of what here is.

Just a thought. :)
