I’m always amazed by the people who can focus so diligently on the goal in front of them. Sure, I make progress at whatever I’m after, but I do it so haphazardly that I’m surprised others don’t beat me to the punch every time. I can say that about work, my writing, dance, whatever… I’m motivated, but I’m not the fastest to act or the most persistent. And I’m frequently disappointed by others–probably unjustifiably.

When I read the blog over at 37signals, I’m just astonished. There’s a group of people who are so bright, so motivated, and so focused on what they do. Some people say it’s unheard of that a company of fewer than ten people can leave such an imprint on the internet community. But I know why they’ve made the mark they have. And I’m beginning to become impressed by the fact that it happened at all. (more…)
