If I’ve Learned Anything
If I’ve learned anything, I’ve learned that…
- With time, anything is possible.
- There’s only so much time in a day.
- A good job is easy to take for granted.
- Money is both more and less important than everything else.
- Professors are some of the most interesting (and famous) people you’ll ever meet…and getting to know them is a great privilege.
- Instant Messenger is a drug.
- Instant Messenger has turned us all into stalkers.
- Learning about someone from someone else is subjecting your judgment to bias. Be careful.
- People aren’t always the best medicine.
- If I make three lasting friendships over my three years in college, then I’ll be both content and popular.
- Life’s not only about tangible accomplishments, but clear goals are often necessary.
- When rejected, there’s always the possibility that all the judges were, in fact, wrong.
- For every one thing you get rejected from, you’ll get accepted into something else which you hadn’t even considered.
- Going out to make a problem go away will often work…unless you’re going out with your problem.
- Dancing makes everything better.
- Random compliments are always welcome.
- Everything is cheaper online.
- Working for yourself is rewarding, but you no longer get paid during your breaks.
- Trying to smile when you’re angry can help a great deal.
- Philosophy is as practical as any other major you can think of.
- The electives you take in college might end up being of more use than your major classes.
- Being in love won’t make you happy all the time, just most of the time.
- Letting someone love you is a great responsibility to bear.
- Loving someone is a great risk.
- At a certain point in every relationship, experience won’t buy you anything.
- Some people learn from others’ mistakes. Others don’t.
- Some people learn by trial and error. Others are naturals.
- Just because something isn’t natural doesn’t mean it’s not right. If everything had to feel right all the time then no one would be happy in relationships, friendships, or society.
- Depression is much more inspiring than happiness.
- People would rather hear complaints than details on why everything is going well.
- You need to have a cynical friend.
- You should touch someone every day. Touch is so powerful.
- There is no part of your life when you weren’t the same person in some way.
- Little kids are not adults and can’t be treated like adults.
- College students are not adults and can’t be treated like adults.
- Maturity has no real definition.
- Everyone will be ready for the academic environment of college at some point, but very few are ready at 18.
- You’ll end up being a hypocrite at some point.
- Reading or watching the news once every week connects you to the world much more than you’d have thought.
- Anyone can draw.
- Having a girlfriend makes holidays so much nicer.
- Being competitive is okay, so long as it’s over the right things and with the right people.
- Breakfast is a necessity.
- Carrying stamps in your wallet is a good idea.
- Everyone needs to know more than they do about their own health.
- There are no forbidden topics or gestures.
- Timing is everything.
- Mistakes make us human.
- Dogs are much more reliable than humans.
- Cute as they may be, dogs aren’t as hot as girls.
- Never be harder on someone than you are on yourself.
- Have high expectations for yourself.
- Quotes are great, but they are often applied out of context.
- A week that goes by without some written or visual reference to it is a forgotten week.
- You should eat at least one meal per day with another person…for sanity’s sake.
- One month of musical training/theory will forever change the way you listen to music.
- Without action, five hours of introspection will get you nowhere.
